Course Description

The English for Tertiary Entrance (English for Academic Purposes) program provides students with a pathway of study that prepares students with the skills and practice necessary to successfully cope with the requirements of a tertiary education course on a language, organisational and personal level. Areas such as study skills, critical thinking, self-assessment and contingency management will be dealt with in the course of study. Primarily, the course will prepare students for tertiary education by Australian standards, with a view to raising the student’s awareness of academic expectations and a focus on original interpretation of literature and critical analysis. Debate, discussion, self–reflection and assessment through tutorials will be a key part of the course.

After completion:

Certificate of English for Tertiary Entrance AND Certificate of Attainment of each module

Entry Requirement:

Students wishing to enter the English for Tertiary Entrance program will need to demonstrate an IELTS score of 5.5. This course can be combined with Uniworld English for International Communication (General English) or English.

Course Duration: a 16-week course with four 4-week modules
